The Trustee performs several duties:
- Provides financial assistance to qualifying individuals in Westchester Township
- Contracts for fire protection for the unincorporated areas of Westchester Township
- Administers the Fire Cumulative Fund
- Prepares an Annual Financial Report and submits it to the Township Board for their approval, and then files it with the State Board of Accounts (SBOA)
- Prepares a budget for the upcoming year, submits it to the Township Board for their approval, and then files it with the State Board of Accounts (SBOA) and the Department of Local Government and Finance (DLGF)
The Township Board is the legislative body of Westchester Township. The Board approves:
- The Annual Financial Report submitted by the Trustee
- Expenditures from the Fire Cumulative Fund
- The Fire Contracts for fire protection in the unincorporated areas of Westchester Township
- The Contract for legal representation for Westchester Township
- The annual budget for the upcoming year which is submitted by the Trustee
